David Spencer

Professor Spencer conducts research on space flight proximity operations, automated trajectory control of spacecraft, and deep space robotic mission design. He is the principal investigator of the Prox-1 small satellite project, which will demonstrate automated proximity operations for on-orbit inspection. Spencer joined the Georgia Tech faculty in 2008 after 17 years with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. While at JPL, he was deputy project manager for the Phoenix Mars Lander, mission manager for the Deep Impact and Mars Odyssey projects, and mission designer for Mars Pathfinder.
